Answers to the questions travellers ask us most
Everything you need to know about ordering currency, paying, delivery, selling your leftover cash back and keeping your money safe. Can’t find what you’re after? Our UK support desk is on the phone, email and live chat seven days a week, 8am to 8pm.
Placing an order and getting it to your door
How quickly will my currency arrive?
Place your order before our 3pm cut-off on a working day and it’s delivered the next working day by Royal Mail Special Delivery, guaranteed by 1pm. Standard delivery (2 to 3 working days) is also available, and it’s free on orders over £750.
What’s the cut-off time for next-day delivery?
It’s 3pm, Monday to Friday. Anything confirmed and paid for before then is counted, sealed and dispatched the same afternoon for next-working-day arrival. Orders placed after 3pm, at weekends or on a bank holiday are processed on the next working day.
Can I track my order?
Yes. As soon as your parcel leaves our counting room you’ll get an email with a Royal Mail tracking number, so you can follow it every step of the way to your letterbox. You can also check progress from your order confirmation at any time.
Will I need to sign for my delivery?
Yes. Every order travels by a signed-for, insured Royal Mail service, so your cash is handed over in person rather than left on a doorstep. If you’re out, Royal Mail leaves a card and you can rearrange delivery or collect from your local office.
Where in the UK do you deliver?
We deliver to any address in mainland Britain, plus Northern Ireland, the Scottish Highlands and islands, and the Isle of Man. Remote postcodes may take an extra working day. We’re unable to post currency outside the United Kingdom.
Can I collect my order in person?
Yes — click & collect is free. Choose it at checkout and pick your notes up from our London desk at Sterling House, 24 Lombard Street, EC3V 9AL, or our Manchester desk at Centurion House, 129 Deansgate, M3 4WB. Bring your order reference and photo ID.
Can I deliver to an address that isn’t mine?
For security, we deliver to the cardholder’s home or billing address by default. If you need it sent elsewhere, give our team a call on +1 808 517 5677 before you order and we’ll talk through the options and any checks involved.
Pricing, paying and how your rate works
Is there any commission or hidden fee?
No commission, ever. The rate you’re quoted is the rate you pay, and there’s no surcharge for paying by debit card. We make our margin in the exchange rate itself, not in surprise charges added at the end.
Can I pay by debit or credit card?
Both. Debit cards carry no surcharge. Credit-card payments may attract a small processing fee, which is always shown clearly before you confirm so there are no surprises.
When is my rate locked in?
The moment you confirm and pay for your order. From that point your rate is fixed, so if the market moves before your cash is delivered, you keep the rate you agreed — even if you ordered weeks ahead of your trip.
Do you accept Apple Pay and Google Pay?
Yes. Alongside debit and credit cards and bank transfer, you can check out with Apple Pay or Google Pay for a quick, secure payment straight from your phone.
What’s the smallest and largest amount I can order?
You can order between £50 and £2,500 per traveller online. Need more? Give us a ring on +1 808 517 5677 and we’ll arrange a larger order with the appropriate identity checks.
Are the rates on the site live?
The rates shown across the site are indicative and refreshed regularly so you can compare and plan. Your exact, guaranteed rate is confirmed and locked at checkout. You can see the full table on our live rates page.
Turning holiday money back into pounds
How do I sell my leftover currency back?
Start a sell-back order on our sell currency page, lock the buy-back rate, then print the free pre-paid label and post your notes to our secure counting room. Once they arrive and are verified, we pay the agreed sterling amount to your bank.
Is the return postage really free?
Yes. Every sell-back comes with a free, pre-paid and tracked Royal Mail label — there’s nothing to pay to send your cash back to us. Just pop your notes in the packaging, attach the label and drop it at any Post Office.
Which currencies and notes do you accept?
We buy back notes from more than 40 currencies, from euros and US dollars to Thai baht, UAE dirhams and South African rand. Notes must be genuine and in reasonable condition — badly torn, defaced or withdrawn notes can’t always be accepted.
Do you buy back coins?
We’re unable to accept foreign coins, as they can’t be exchanged back through the banking system — so it’s only notes, we’re afraid. It’s worth keeping a few coins as a holiday memento instead.
How long until I’m paid?
Once your notes reach our counting room and are checked, we send the sterling to your bank — usually within one working day. You’ll get an email to confirm the moment payment is on its way.
Keeping your cash and details safe
Is my currency insured in transit?
Yes. Every order is sealed, tracked and fully covered from our vault to your door, whether you’re buying currency or posting leftover notes back to us. You’re never carrying the risk while your cash is in the post.
Will I need to prove my identity?
For most everyday orders, no. For larger amounts we may ask for a quick identity check — standard practice for a money service business — to keep everyone’s money safe. We’ll tell you up front if anything’s needed and it only takes a few minutes.
What happens if my order is lost in the post?
Because every parcel is tracked, signed-for and insured, you’re protected. In the rare event something goes astray, get in touch and we’ll investigate with Royal Mail and put it right — you won’t be left out of pocket.
How is my payment and personal data protected?
Payments are handled through an encrypted, secure checkout, and your details are looked after in line with our privacy policy. You can read more about how we work in our compliance pages.
Working with us
Do you supply currency to businesses?
We do. We work with travel agents, banks and building societies, bureaux and corporate finance teams, supplying foreign currency at wholesale rates with white-label delivery. You’ll find the full picture on our for business page.
How do I become a partner?
Tell us a little about your business through the for business page or the contact form, and a dedicated account manager will be in touch to set you up. One name, not a queue.
